Detailed description
The shells consist mainly of calcium carbonate in the form of calcite and aragonite. Aragonite is structured in lamellar form, parallel with the inner surface, and forms the mother-of-pearl with its typical iridescence. This mother-of-pearl is of high quality and is used in decoration, the production of artefacts, coatings and resin inclusions.
