SIO-2 PLUS® is a natural air-drying modeling clay that hardens without the need for firing, acquiring high hardness, strength, and solidity. This material is ideal for stimulating creativity and artistic expression, recommended for both professional crafting and creative arts as well as for child use.
PLUS clay has a soft and fine texture, making it very pleasant to work with. Thanks to its clay composition, it has excellent plasticity that allows for detailed and precise modeling. It is also suitable for turning on a potter's wheel. Odorless, non-staining, and easily cleaned from any surface with a damp cloth. Natural cellulose fibers ensure crack-free drying, even on large pieces.
Once dried, the clay can be painted, varnished with any type of paint or varnish, as well as polished, sculpted, or pierced.
This product complies with European standard EN-71 and U.S. regulations (AP seal for non-toxic products) and does not contain food allergens.
Key Features
Instructions for use
Knead the clay before starting your work.
If the clay loses plasticity, slightly moisten your hands to restore it.
The clay can be shaped with moulds or on a potter’s wheel.
Once finished, allow the object to air dry.
Attention
If the clay is used to cover rigid inner supports, first wrap them with paper or cloth to avoid cracks caused by shrinkage.
The clay shrinks during drying; the more water it contains, the greater the shrinkage.
Avoid adding additional water to the clay to prevent cracking.
Do not use hair dryers for medium or large objects or flat shapes.
The clay is not waterproof and should not be used for objects in direct contact with water.
Drying
Let the object air dry; maximum hardness is achieved in 1–4 days at room temperature.
For small pieces, drying can be accelerated using a hair dryer with evenly distributed heat.
Hardness can be further increased by finishing drying in a domestic oven at 100–110°C.
Finishing and decoration
Once dry, the object can be polished, carved or drilled.
It can be decorated with paints, pencils or markers.
Because the surface is not very porous, one coat of paint is usually sufficient.
Applying varnish enhances the natural colour and improves durability and cleanability.
Storage
After opening, wrap the remaining clay in plastic.
If the clay hardens but remains moist, it can be softened again by kneading with moist hands.
During work interruptions, cover the piece with plastic or a damp cloth.
Store in a cool place, avoiding high temperatures and temperatures below 0°C.
